Scleroplasty
Scleroplasty
To address myopia progression in young children, an effective and reliable surgical technique is used, which is called Scleroplasty. It is aimed at reinforcement of sclera (outer layer of the eye) in pathologically changed posterior segment. In the course of such surgical intervention, a specifically designed Iyodura alloplants are inserted outside eye ball that is sclera. thus reinforcing the walls of the eye, suspending its growth behind the equator and myopia progression. Scleroplasty also contributes to expansion in the number of vessels that supply nourishment to the posterior pole of the eye ball, thus improving/supplementing the blood supply to the eye. This surgery takes about an hour and is performed under general anesthesia on the day basis.
